Mark Zuckerberg announces ‘Meta Avatar store’ with brands like Prada, Balenciaga

Meta is launching a new digital designer clothing store called “Meta Avatar Store” so that users can better express themselves through their avatars. For starters, the store will get clothing lines from Balenciaga, Prada, and Thom Browne. Meta hasn’t revealed how much users will have to pay to get these clothes. According to an official statement from Mark Zuckerberg, “We’re launching our Avatar Store on Facebook, Instagram and Messenger so you can buy digital clothes to style your avatar. Digital goods themselves are a big driver of the metaverse and creative economy.” I’m excited to add more brands and bring it to VR soon.”

Meta has yet to reveal whether this designer clothing store will be available to all users globally. However, it will be rolling out in the United States, Canada, Thailand and Mexico next week.

For those unaware, Meta recently announced 3D avatars for Messenger and Facebook. Meta 3D Avatar lets you create a virtual version of yourself, so you can better express yourself in the online world. The updated version brings support for hearing aids and cochlear implants and also adds wheelchairs for avatars. With these additional features, Meta plans to reach a wider audience for its avatars on its social media platforms.
